History of Scoil Mhuire
Ballyhogue National School was founded in 1928. The local church was used as a school until 1952. Initially the new school consisted of one classroom and in 1967, the second classroom was built. In August 2004, a new prefab was installed to cater for the ever-increasing numbers. In September 2006, the school became a three teacher school with the addition of another prefab. During the summer of 2011 the roof of the the school was replaced and a learning support room and staff room were added to the back of the school. It was with great joy, that in September 2012, the school was granted funding for the addition of two new classrooms and many upgrades to the existing school.
